Year 5

 

 

Term 1 -

We have an exciting start to the year, exploring ‘Flight’ and

‘Our Place in Space’. These topics are supported by two

incursions one being Kites 4 Kids and the other Star Lab.

 

 

 

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

Also the grade 5’s this year have various whole school responsibilities which Include looking after the bins, flags and our new wonderful garden patch.

 

 

Dojo, Reading Eggs and Mathletics will continued to be used both at school and for further use at home.

 

 

Term 2  -

As part of the 100 year ANZAC commemoration we will be going to the Shrine and exploring how this part of our history helped to develop us as a nation.

 

As always Naplan preparation will form part off our teaching, which will be held in May.

 

Our Year 5 camp will also be in this term at a fabulous new location.The camp this year involves the children going to the Blood On the Southern Cross Show (light and sound spectacular), guided tour through different aspects of Sovereign Hill itself and a visit to the Gold Museum. This Camp is to support our topic that we are focusing on in this term which is looking at how Gold changed the development of Victoria the Eureka Uprising and its effects on Australia’s democracy.

 

Term 3 -   

Our topics will include how Australia developed in the 19th century with a focus on inland explorers and bushrangers.

 

 

Term 4 -

We will focus on Natural Disasters and the Leadership Roles at our school (What makes a good leader?).

 

Our unique triathlon will take place plus the children will also participate in the fantastic 2 x 2 sport event near the end of the year.
